Bill Boethius One of the most original things I've heard.
Great sense of drama.
I like the way everything is rooted in the bass. Tremendous compositions, fine attention to detail and atmosphere.
Sekator

Sekator Slow, gloomy, doomy and sludge-y...but without any metal elements (in case you're wondering). The main player is the pulsating bass guitar, upon which there are ominous layers of ambient guitars, synths, experimental sounds.

I admit it took me a few listens to get into it. This is an album that requires a bit more attention from the listener. There is definitely a lot of original ideas here from a band firmly set on their own path.
Tolujin

Tolujin Moody, entrancing instrumental rock. Reminds me strangely of Luminous Darkness, the first album by Cyclobe (Stephen Thrower, ex-Coil) -- it has a similar horror soundtrack vibe but this is warmer and more organic, in fact it's sometimes hard to believe it's a one-person project and not group improvisation. The perfect soundtrack for driving lost on a rainy night. Favorite track: Octavia.

about

'Portal/Well' is the deeply melodic, dense, austere & wildly unhinged debut album from Insect Ark. Written, performed & recorded by Dana Schechter (Angels Of Light / Bee And Flower) in complete solitude, in her Brooklyn studio.

'Portal/Well' finds its voice in the haunting groans of the lap steel guitar, the stalking bass, the insistent drum programming & the deep oscillations of synthesisers.

'Portal/Well' was completed just before the addition of Ashley Spungin on drums (January 2015).
